CHERRY PARADE & FESTIVAL

2018 CHERRY PARADE
& FESTIVAL
SATURDAY, JUNE 2

Our theme for this year's Parade was
"Rockin Round the Cherry Tree"!
It was submitted by Abby Kemp, who rode in the Parade as our Junior Grand Marshal.  Congratulations, Abby!

The Grand Marshal's for 2018 were
Tania and Jason Williams
(photo below)

Tania grew up in Leona Valley and is a local horse trainer.  Together they raised their two daughters here.  They and others organized and ran the LVIA Gymkhana for the past 20 years.  Our Lee Rackett horse arena had fallen into disrepair and was not being used when they fixed it up and started horse events.  They have both contributed substantial time to improving our community, especially for the kids.

T-SHIRTS WITH THE CHERRY PARADE THEME ARE STILL AVAILABLE AT THE POST OFFICE IN RANCHER'S MARKET.
The cost is only $20.

LEONA VALLEY CHERRIES

Leona Valley is well known for its U Pic Cherry orchards.  For over 50 years, people have enjoyed picking their own sweet and sour cherries.  There are now about 10 orchards, most of which avoid the use of pesticides with some being certified organic.  Many of them have picnic areas and sell cherry products.  For more information, go to http://cherriesupic.com.

LVIA has sponsored an annual Cherry Parade and Festival on the first Saturday of June for over 40 years.  Our 2017 Grand Marshals were Steve and Stefanie Fredericks, active members of many Leona Valley organizations.  The Parade features lots of floats with local community queens, horses, and antique cars.  Don't miss the deep fried cherry burritos!  We also have a cherry pie eating contest, car show, live band and lots of craft vendors.
